The Ten Commandments Reinterpreted by Rome
Idolatry is rampant throughout Roman Catholicism. Statues, relics, saints, Mary, even the eucharist are all exalted while the gospel of Jesus Christ has long been crowded out. Interestingly enough, in Rome's interpretation of the Ten Commandments, idolatry is not seen as an individual commandment and instead coveting is seen as two.
Rome states that "Veneration of sacred images is based on the mystery of the Incarnation of the Word of God. It is not contrary to the first commandment" (CCC 2141).
Idolatry is a very serious offense against God. In Romans 1:21-25 we see that God gave over idolators to their impure lusts because their love for Him had been corrupted by idolatry. Furthermore, in 1 Cor 6:9-10 we see that idolaters are excluded from the kingdom of Heaven. Make no mistake, idolatry can happen inside a church and even practiced by those who unknowingly have been deceived.

|Ex 20:11 "For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy."|

We must lovingly show Catholics that salvation is not found in a relic, statue, saint, Mary, or wafer but that it is found in Jesus Christ as revealed in the living Word of God to be received through repentance and faith (Mk 1:15).
