What Are You Doing With Jesus?
Everyone will one day stand before their Creator the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who repent and believe His Gospel will meet Him as their glorious Savoir and Redeemer. Those who reject, dismiss, deny or ignore Him will meet Him as their sin-avenging Judge. There is no middle ground. What are you doing with Jesus is one of life's most important questions. May we all look to Him as the author and perfector of the Christian faith!
Trust Jesus as the Lamb of God
Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29). As the perfect sacrificial Lamb, Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous (1 Pet. 3:18). The death of Jesus satisfied the demands of God's justice, thereby enabling Him to forgive and save those who trust Him (Romans 3:26).
Follow Jesus as the only Way
Jesus said, “No one comes to the Father, but through Me” (John 14:6). Since He is the only one who came from heaven and returned, we must follow Him (John 3:13). Jesus said, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me” (Luke 9:23). Any other way leads to death (Prov. 14:12).
Believe Jesus as the Truth
Jesus came to bear witness to the truth and said that everyone who is of the truth will hear His voice (John 18:37). Jesus declared that He is the truth and His word is truth (John 14:6; 17:17). There is therefore no higher authority than Christ and His word. Do not dishonor Him by taking someone else’s word over His.
Receive Jesus as your new Life
To those who receive Him by believing in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God (John 1:12-13). He who has Jesus has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life and remains dead in sin (1 John 5:12; Eph. 2:5).
Obey Jesus as the Son of God
"Believe" means to trust Jesus and His word and have faith in God’s promises. He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him (John 3:36). Jesus became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him (Heb. 5:8). We know we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments (1 John 2:3).
Come to Jesus as the only Mediator
There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1 Tim. 2:5). He is God’s perfect man and man’s perfect God. Do not attempt to approach God through any other mediator because no one else is qualified. Pray only to God.
Embrace Jesus as your Righteousness
All believers receive the gift of Christ’s righteousness and a permanent right standing before God (Rom. 5:17; 1 Cor. 1:30; Heb. 10:14). This righteousness, which comes from God, is on the basis of faith (Phil. 3:9). Forsake your own righteousness because all the righteous deeds of an unbeliever are like a filthy garment (Isa. 64:6).
Proclaim Jesus as the only Savior
Proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Pet. 2:9). There is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
Love Jesus as Sovereign God
He chose you before the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4). The Son gives life to whom He wishes (John 5:21). Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind (Mat. 22:37). This is love, that we walk according to His commandments (2 John 1:6).
Praise Jesus as your Advocate
Let everyone who names the name of the Lord abstain from wickedness, but if you do sin, you have an Advocate with the Father (2 Tim. 2:19; 1 John 2:1). God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them (2 Cor. 5:19).
Glorify Jesus as your Redeemer
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace (Eph. 1:7). You have been bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body (1 Cor. 6:20). Live by faith in the Son of God, who loved you and gave Himself for you (Gal. 2:20).
Worship Jesus as Holy God
Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come (Rev. 4:8). Like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves in all your behavior (1 Pet. 1:15).
Honor Jesus as your only Priest
As a merciful and faithful high priest, He satisfied divine justice by offering Himself once for all sin for all time (Heb. 2:17; 10:12). At that moment God tore open the veil to the holy of holies (Mat. 27:51). Repentant sinners now have access to the Father through faith (Eph. 2:18).
Serve Jesus as your Master
No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to one and despise the other (Mat. 6:24). Since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe (Heb. 12:28). Since you were created in Christ Jesus for good works, walk in them (Eph. 2:10).
Long for Jesus as your Blessed Hope
Look for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus (Titus 2:13).
