Pope Francis paid homage to the Immaculate Virgin Mary, just as the Bishop of Rome has done annually for the past 50 years on the feast of the Immaculate Conception. He said, “We have need of your immaculate heart, to love freely, without secondary aims but seeking the good of the other, with simplicity and sincerity, renouncing masks and tricks.”

Many have asked on what basis do Catholics believe that Mary was born without sin? The short answer is because of the piety of the people. According to reliable Catholic sources, Pope Pius IX spent all of his “holy life” at the feet of Mary and was deeply persuaded by earnest petitions of Catholics all over the world to declare the Immaculate Conception of Mary. However, there are some serious problems with his pronouncement which reads: “We declare, pronounce and define that the doctrine which holds that the Blessed Virgin Mary, at the first instant of her conception, by a singular privilege and grace of the Omnipotent God, in virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of mankind, was preserved immaculate from all stain of original sin, has been revealed by God, and therefore should firmly and constantly be believed by all the faithful….” A logical question would be, “How can the merits of Jesus Christ preserve Mary from original sin, when He had not yet been born. His work of redemption and the purification of sin had not yet been accomplished. The second major fallacy is the pope said Mary’s immaculate conception has been revealed by God. This is completely false and a lie that has deceived hundreds of millions of Catholics. Not only is Mary’s immaculate conception and her sinlessness not revealed in God’s inspired, infallible Word, it goes directly against the teaching of Scripture. The Bible clearly states that the sin of Adam was spread to all his descendants including Mary. “Just as through one man (Adam) sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned” (Rom. 5:12). God’s Word also reveals that “all have sinned (including Mary) and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). “THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE” (Rom. 3:10).

Yet, According to Catholic teaching, Mary never sinned and she was redeemed from sin from the moment she was conceived. As with all infallible pronouncements, this is a required belief for the whole Church even though these religious traditions nullify and oppose the Word of God. According to Scripture, Mary acknowledged that she was a sinner in need of a Savior when she said, “My spirit rejoices in God my Savior) (Luke 1:47).

On the feast of the Immaculate Conception Pope Francis prayed to Mary saying, “We thank you, O Mother, because in showing yourself to us You free us of all stain of sin.”  He profanely attributed to Mary what Christ alone had accomplished on Calvary’s cross. The pope’s prayer robbed Christ of His glorious accomplishment of purifying for Himself a people for His own possession (Titus 2:14). It was Jesus who “made purification of sins”, and “sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high” indicating His redemptive work was finished (Heb. 1:3). The pope needs to quit exalting Mary as a sinless mediator and give all glory honor and praise to Jesus because it was His precious blood that purifies His people from ALL sin (1 John 1:7).

The apostle Paul warned that false teachers would come and lead people astray from a a sincere and pure devotion to Christ (2 Cor. 11:3). There may not be a more influential wolf in sheep’s clothing than Pope Francis who continues to lead Catholics down the wide road to destruction. This is why we have a ministry to Catholics. They will never know they are deceived until they are lovingly confronted with the truth.
